The SmartGene Bacteria 16S module continues to grow to cover more species.
On August 22nd, the IDNS 16S Centroids database and the Centroid annotations to records in the IDNS 16S rDNA Eubacteria database were updated. The databases are included in the various SmartGene Bacteria Apps.
The IDNS 16S Centroids database has now grown to cover more than 16,400 species representing a total of 3,312 genera.
In the IDNS 16S rDNA Eubacteria database, more than 606k of a total of close to 1.2 million entries are now annotated with confidence values (and other Centroids-related annotations) to facilitate searches for matching species variants. The remaining entries are either not named with a valid species name (according to www.dsmz.de), have sequence irregularities, or have been submitted very recently.
Note: SmartGene's Centroid annotation process is a patented procedure.
